Álex Postigo joins Betis to strengthen goalkeeping ranks

Real Betis have officially completed the signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Álex Postigo from Gimnástica Segoviana after reaching an agreement with the Castilla y León club over a transfer fee. The deal represents a financial investment by the Andalusian side and follows positive reports from the club's academy staff.

Postigo came through the Gimnástica Segoviana academy and made 26 appearances in Segunda RFEF last season, the same division in which Betis Deportivo will compete. His performances and development have attracted Betis, who see the young goalkeeper as a player with room for further growth.

The transfer was preceded by some tension between the two clubs. Gimnástica Segoviana president Agustín Cuenca had publicly called for a fee that reflected the goalkeeper's value, claiming that Betis' initial offers had fallen well short of the club's expectations.

Although Postigo was initially expected to join Betis Deportivo, he will reportedly begin his time at the club with Betis C. His performances could then earn him promotion to the reserve side and an opportunity to work under Dani Fragoso.

The signing does not completely resolve Betis' goalkeeping situation, with further recruitment still expected following several departures from the reserve team.
